This is her second birthday celebration in orbit. As part of the Boeing Crew Flight Test mission she and fellow NASA astronaut Butch Wilmore have been on the ISS since June 6 2024. Due to unexpected technical problems with the Boeing Starliner spacecraft their stay has been extended and their return is now scheduled for February 2025. Sunita Williams Commemorates Her 59th Birthday From Space. Although Sunita Williams birthday celebration falls during a busy period for the ISS crew her achievements have not gone unnoticed on Earth. By posting the video on their Instagram well-known Indian music label Saregama gave her a very special birthday present. A medley of Indian singers and celebrities have joined forces to celebrate the legendary Mohd Rafi 59th birthday with a special rendition of the song Bar bar din ye aaye.
In the video popular musicians Sonu Nigam Shaan Hariharan and Neeti Mohan each lend their voices to the well-known song after film director Karan Johar opens with a message specifically for Williams.
In addition the film features veteran actor Jeetendra Kapoor who made an appearance in the original Bar bar din ye aaye music video wishing the viewer a very happy birthday. In a different video renowned musicians including Shankar Mahadevan Anup Jalota, Salim Merchant, Ila Arun Haricharan Seshadri and Shraddha Pandit perform the song.

According to NASA she set multiple records for women in space while working as a flight engineer on Expeditions 14 and 15 including spending more than 195 days in orbit and more than 29 hours on spacewalks. Commercial Crew Program of Sunita Williams.
Williams was chosen as an astronaut for NASAs Commercial Crew program in 2015 according to the agencys official page. The programs goal is to develop private spacecraft for ISS missions. She piloted the first crewed test flight of Boeings CST-100 Starliner in 2024.

Williams commenced her second space mission on July 15 2012 aboard Soyuz TMA-05M. She first worked as a flight engineer for Expedition 32 before becoming the commander for Expedition 33.
She completed three more spacewalks during this mission spending more than 50 hours outside the International Space Station. She also proved that she was a trailblazer when she finished a triathlon in orbit with equipment from the space station.
